The Bold Chokers for Spring 2016

Back in October 2014, I wrote an article about chokers. At that time, the trend was leaning toward more delicate varieties. While these are certainly still very wearable today, I’ve noticed that chokers are going bold, big time. These larger-scale versions are making it off the fashion runway and onto the street.

With the longevity I’ve seen the past couple years, I’m thinking that chokers are no longer a trend, but rather a viable jewelry staple. I’ve done a bit of online investigating and wanted to share a range of designs with you. Perhaps one will strike your fancy?

So tell me — are chokers part of your jewelry wardrobe? If not, could you envision incorporating one this season? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

  1. They look great on the models, but honestly I think they are hard for most people to wear. I know I couldn’t pull one off! 🙂

    1. I think they can be a bit challenging, but the trick is to find one that has the right thickness and the right tightness/looseness. I’ve tried some on, and I look better if they aren’t super tight around my neck.

  2. The trick is to recognize if you have a long neck or not. Women with very short necks need to think twice about wearing chokers as these necklaces cut the neck length, which makes one’s neck even shorter.

  3. Sorry I’m late to the party but I had to comment. You KNOW I love chokers! My fav is the Balenciaga piece. Totally my style personality & works with my neck…at least for a while longer. ? Thank you Amy!

  4. I also love the Balanciaga choker! It’s a great mix of impact and lightness due to all the negative space in the design. If only I had a younger neck, I would go for the Eddie Borgo 🙂

    1. It is interesting how the neck ages more quickly than other body parts– but I still think there’s a choker out there for everyone! Thanks for the comments, Ann Marie.
